Sue Robinson - Centre Coordinator
Sue is one of the original co-founders of KFCA. She leads the day to day running of the community centre, and coordinates service delivery for the charity. Sue is KFCA’s designated safeguarding lead (DSL) and is qualified youth worker.
Sue has lived in Kensington all her life and is well known and respected community leader.
She is a vocal campaigner on neighbourhood inequality and food insecurity at a City, Regional and National level. She works alongside the likes of Church Action on Poverty and Feeding Liverpool to influence urgent change on behalf of ordinary people.
In her spare time she enjoys time with family & friends, walking her dog and going to the theatre. Sue said “no two days are the same at KFCA, we support our community with all kinds of challenges which is extremely rewarding.”

Myra Gilbertson – Youth and Community worker
Myra supports the Centre Co-ordinator. She delivers kids activities on Tuesday & Thursday evening and leads our school holiday provision (HAF). She also leads on coordinating KFCA’s weekly food pantry.
Myra is a qualified youth worker, lives locally in Kensington and has been with KFCA for over 20 years.
She is an avid DIY’er and enjoys all kinds of cookery.

Helen Ball – Business Development Manager
Helen joined KFCA in January 2022 - her work is focused on bringing in the funding for the organisation through bid writing & grants, supporting the Trustees and good governance, finance coordination, marketing & comms, monitoring & evaluation, project management, developing new services & activities, identifying new opportunities and partnership development across the City. She is also the person behind KFCA’s social media and website. Helen is passionate about growing food and leads on our community allotment.
Helen has 30 years experience in the social housing, regeneration & social enterprise sector.
She lived in Kensington in the 1980s and said “I am made up to be back in the area, and working to make a positive difference to the neighbourhood and the people.”

Rose Garrett - Community Projects Coordinator
Rose is our new Community Projects Coordinator, she runs our children’s library and organises lots of exciting new community activities & services.
Rose has worked in the Early Years sector, but her specialty is Community Drama and Applied Theatre after studying at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). She is passionate about storytelling and using the arts to connect people.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing board games and painting. Rose is originally from Whitby, North Yorkshire, but moved to Liverpool 4 years ago when she was drawn in by the culture, arts and music scene Liverpool has to offer.

Val Tierney - Admin Support Officer
Val joined the team at Kenny Fields Community Centre in February 2024 as the new Admin Support Officer.
She has a long history working in admin, having worked in schools, private clinics, and for the NHS in medical centres and hospitals.
Val said “I’m thrilled to be living and working in the Kenny community”

Ged Rush - Caretaker
Ged joined us in February 2024 as our new caretaker. He looks after all aspects of centre security, building maintenance and supports the team with pantry stock deliveries. Ged is a skilled joiner and is experienced in other trades so will be a great asset to our team moving forward.

Paul Nicholson - Chair of Trustees
Paul is a co-founder of KFCA, having volunteered with the organisation since it’s inception in the 1990’s. Having lived in close proximity to the Centre for over seventy years, he has the trust and ear of the local community.
Paul has an NVQ Level 2 in Community Development and along with twenty other local people he completed national Community Organisers training in 2020.
Paul is passionate about championing the voice of people in our neighbourhood and making sure that the social and economic success of the City trickles down into Kenny Fields as much as possible.

Lisa Ryan - Deputy Chairperson
Lisa is a local resident who has lived in the area for twenty years. Her daughter attended the local school from nursery to year 6 and her family have all used the services of the Community Centre.
Lisa works as a trade union official, with responsibilities which include equality and diversity; which is something she is very passionate about and she often brings this experience with her into her role at KFCA to make sure its services are inclusive and appealing to the many diverse community groups we have in the area.
Lisa also leads on Kensington Fields Community Land Trust

Peter Reed
Peter was born in Kensington Fields, with the family home still in Jubilee Drive. He was head boy of Our Lady of Fatima High School and attended the local youth clubs in the area.
Peter went on to study, work and teach in local universities (Liverpool John Moores University, Edge Hill University, and the University of Liverpool) before joining the private sector, leading product departments for global education companies.
Peter is now the Managing Director of ‘Interactive Pro’ a company partnering with universities to support them to develop, launch and deliver online degrees to a global audience. His IT, technology and further education sector experience are extremely valuable to KFCA.
Peter also chairs the Board’s IT sub-committee.

Neil Kelly - Treasurer
Neil is an international tax expert and Head of Tax at Radius Payment Solutions, Europe's leading independent service provider to the fleet and logistics market with a turnover of £2.6bn.
As a child Neil lived locally and attended SFX College. He has a first class honours degree from Swansea University. He previously worked at the HMRC as a Tax inspector.
Neil also chairs the Board’s finance sub-committee.

Sarah Duggan
Sarah is a nursery nurse and has lived in the area all her life. She used the centre as a child and her family have roots in the neighbourhood spanning three generations.
Sarah also volunteers with KFCA during school holidays and brings a wealth of skills & expertise from her early years provision work to KFCA’s HAF and children & young people’s activities. She liaises with families who use the centre and ensures their voice is heard in all that we do.

Lee Sutcliffe
Lee is the bar manager in the function suite, where all of life’s milestone are celebrated. He lives over the road from the centre and keeps a close eye on the premises and grounds when the centre is not in use.
Lee brings experience of living in the local neighbourhood and promotes the voice of the people who use the facilities.

David Melia
David is Chief Nursing Officer at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, joining in 2022. Whilst he is first and foremost a nurse, his career over the past 20 years has also given him experience in governance, human resources, professional standards, risk and safety, quality improvement , engagement, stakeholder feedback and monitoring experience, working with regulators and financial management.
David says “Each time I have had contact with KFCA, I am overwhelmed by the drive and determination that is shown there for the support and improvement of the local community. I have witnessed that this is done with kindness and compassion.”
“I recognise that the role of Trustee is there to be a ‘critical friend’ as well as an ally and supporter and I hope that my professional background of being a nurse as well as a senior NHS director will be helpful to the charity.”

Tracey Lowrey
After watching the Guardian, Made in Britain film about KFCA in 2022, Tracey visited the centre along with other colleagues from Liverpool University Hospitals (LUHFT) and was impressed with the work of KFCA and it’s commitment to the community.
Tracey said “In my role as Equality and Diversity Lead, I sit work closely with colleagues from a number of departments including widening participation, health inequalities, innovation and sustainability and we are committed to using LUHFTs assets and resources to support our local community’s economic and social recovery following the COVID pandemic.
I hope by becoming a Trustee, this will strengthen the ties LUHFT already has with KFCA and we can further build on the employment skills workshop’s I’ve already delivered in conjunction with colleagues from the Trust.”
Tracey also chairs the Board’s HR & Safeguarding sub-committee.

Frank Rogers CBE
Former Chief Executive of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Merseytravel (retired September 2021) Frank began in 2023 by acting as a voluntary advisor to KFCA as a co-opted member of the Board of Trustees. He was appointed as a full Trustee in early 2024..
Frank was awarded his CBE in the 2022 New Years Honours List for Services to Leading Local Government Reform in the Liverpool City Region.
Frank is a Chartered Civil Engineer who grew up in the Kensington area (his family home was less than 100 metres away from the community centre) and his parents & family were members and regular users of the centre for many years.
Frank also chairs the Board’s risk & governance sub-committee.

Veronica Crone
Ronnie is passionate about services for older people, she has volunteered with KFCA for over 10 years and helps with the weekly older people’s lunch club & bingo.
She has also helped us develop our new regular ‘Warm Welcome’ days which are supporting local people to combat rising energy bills and help them make friends and reduce social isolation during this worrying time.
Ronnie makes sure that the voices of the older community are heard and shape the services that are delivered from the centre.
