We are delighted to share the outcome of a report which went to Liverpool City Council Cabinet this evening, Tuesday 21st January 2025.

Liverpool City Council has agreed to grant a full repairing and insuring lease for a term of 125yrs to KFCA, for the premises which are home to Kensington Fields Community Centre. KFCA in turn will assign their interest to Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation (AGCF).

Subject to planning permission, AGCF are to fund a £3M investment to significantly improve and expand the community centre, managing the redevelopment works and granting an underlease to KFCA for the same term.

This means that the community of Kensington Fields and wider North Liverpool will have a modern and sustainable community hub fit for the future, to meet the growing needs of local people and neighbourhood.

Paul Nicholson, the Chair of the Trustees of KFCA said:

“This is a much-welcomed decision from Liverpool City Council and KFCA cannot thank AGCF enough for the support they have provided and continued to provide. The funding for, and delivery of, the new building is more than we could ever have hoped for and will make a massive difference to the community that we serve.  We’d also like to thank Liverpool City Council for their support in getting us to this stage.”

A full joint press release, with further details of timescales for planning permission and the anticipated start date of building work, will be issued shortly.
